i often find that you get a better sized dvd5 if you set the output to dvd9 , then use something like dvdshrink to reduce your outputted vobset to dvd5 size 2000mb is far to low a bitrate for a decent quality dvd

I really don't agree with you there. For starters, you are wasting a lot of time and resources. Not to mention the opportunity to introduce a multitude of errors and artifacts with the added conversion and compression cycles you are putting your files through. But instead of me trying to tell you in my words, have a read through a previous post and perhaps that will shed some light on the facts.

    hi ferguj1

if i use convert x i usually stick about 3 films on a dvd anyway , a 1/3 dvdrip is never gonna look as good as a full retail dvd9
interesting link as i always thought 2 pass improved the quality so thank you for the info on that and with ps3 streaming options i rarely burn avi's anymore.

Nice to read someone else getting some use from the ps3's ability to stream. I pretty well follow suit on avi files nowadays as the only ones that get burnt to disk are ones I make for friends and family.

I have also put together a little tutorial on creating files for ps3 playback if you are interested. It can be found here:http://www.techkings.org/dvd-cd-guid...tml#post191367
