    vhs to pc

    All,
I have an old Sony camcorder and it runs tapes which I want to put on my pc for editing and storage purposes.

Whats the best tool for transferring from the camcorder to the pc. I hear Dazzle is good ?
Whats the best software for editing these files.
    Thanks

Personally, i haven't done much work with camcorder to pc. I've heard that Dazzle does the trick, but haven't used it.

What is the model of your camcorder? I'll do some research for you and see what we can come up with.

    thanks a lot.
Its a Sony hi8 camcorder ( dont have the actual model number to hand). It takes hi 8 tapes and its about 5 years old. Hope that helps.

From what i'm able to read, Windows Movie Maker can capture your video from tape. I'd need more specs on your camcorder to be able to tell you how to hook it up to your pc.

7th I borrowed a dazzle connector ( 3 video cables red, white, yellow to usb) and that worked ok when you run the tape directly onto a dvd. However my tapes were all over the place and need to be edited. I would guess the dazzle connector would also store the files for editing but I didnt have enough space on that pc so I gave up. I might buy one but I wanted to check with you guys if there was a better or more generic solution on the market.

Also in terms of editing the files - have you come accross any good software. I noticed people mentioned flickr but I have no knowledge of that.
    thanks for your assistance.
