    Fail Imgburn CRC Error

I am trying to make a back up of a back up

read speeds tried were 2.4, 4 and 16

    all fail at 38%

    this is the error code

W 21:55:25 Failed to Read Sector 1481504 - Reason: Unknown (CRC or ECC Error) (ASC: 0x10, ASCQ: 0x90)

There are some light surface scratches on the disc, could this be the crc error in which it cant read the disc?

    Using memorex dvd+r DL

Drive is LG GE20 LU10 with up to date firmware

    Imgburn version 2.5.0.0

it really depends axxxo, whether you were still burning or verifying, if you were verifying the disk it would/should be the disk, if you were burning the disk it sounds like if is the original file you are trying to burn.
can you do a crc checksum on the original file? just to see if there are any corrupted clusters in it?
let me know and i will see what i can do.

ive done the crc check through abgx360 already and the backup plays fine in the xbox

what im doing is creating an image file from the backup to do another backup if ya catch my drift

downloading a program now at the moment that claims to read bad crc so ill see what happens with that

edit: ok, any reader didnt work, at least i dont think it did, it copied the file from the disc and seemingly my 6gig disc is showing up as 5.odd mb. maybe it doesnt pick up dual layers?

grateful for any programs that can do this please ( i know there are some cd freaks around here )

didn`t realise you were making a back up of an xbox disc, that can be a bit trickier than normal back- ups due to the large amount of checksum content involved, have seen your same problem on other forums, might be able to shed some light on it,will see how you get on with the programme you are running, and then take it from there.
are you imaging disk to disk? or computer to disk?

copying or reading the image file from the disc to the computer, the program i used is called Anyreader but it didnt work

ive done a couple before with no problems so thats why im putting it down to this particular disc but if there's a solution id love to know

dont think my lacol games store would be too happy repairing this disc

on the game store part!, will get back to you tomorrow, will do a bit of scratching around and see if i can find the answer tomorrow in my collection mate,
let me get this straight, disk into computer, rip info into HD, then transfer or re-burn to disk?

    Have you tried DVDDecrypter??

Use brute force (CSS tab) and ignore read errors (I/O tab) and see what you get.

    hth.....

Ok... I'm assuming the game works fine in the console now? It seems there is something at about the 38% mark that is causing an issue... Can you take the disc to a video store and see about having them "polish" it up for you?? You gotta have a friend or someone you trust do it tho... don't wanna loose ye game.

Let's not give up on DVDDecrypter yet... DO you have AnyDVD? If so go into the settings again in Decrypter and choose ElbyCDIO (I/O tab) but make sure ANyDVD is running in the background.

There's 2 more options mate... if those don't work you're gonna have to do some research or d/l the source file again.

    hth mate.
