Default Verbatim +R DL discs change from 2P to IS production

    Found this ad for today

    Verbatim 8.5GB 8X DVD+R DL 20-Pack $19.99 shipped at Newegg Newegg has the Verbatim 8.5GB 8X DVD+R Dual-Layer 20-Pack for $19.99 with free shipping. NEWEGG

Next lowest price on PriceGrabber is $29.99.

Note that the disc speed is 8x. All previous verbs were 2.4x.

Most likely that these new verbs are IS inverse stack production and not the 2P (photo polymer ) type any longer. Note that the price is lower (under a buck a disc). This reflects the lower manufacturing costs of IS over 2P process. . As stated by JoeRyan, a newer burner of 8x or more with updated firmware will be necessary to successfully burn these discs. Otherwise a high failure rate will occur.
