    Detailing a car

For anyone interested in detailing their car, these are the things you will need, it's a lot of work but the end result is worth all the effort.

The basic things you will need are two 20 liter buckets (one for the car soap and one to rinse the wash mitt) a good quality wash mitt, proper car wash (never use dish liquid, strips and dries the paint) and obviously water, other things you will need is a good quality paint cleaner, polishing compound and wax and a clay bar, Mothers or Meguiars are good quality and easy to use and the last things you will need will be tire dressing liquid, rim cleaner, tire cleaner, micro fiber cloths, terry towels, some small sponges and a wax applicator.

Make sure the car is in a cool shady spot, start by rinsing the car from top to bottom, then fill one bucket with car wash and one with clean water, wash the car from the top down and make sure the there are lots of suds, make sure to rinse off the wash mitt in the clean water before you move on to the next part of the car.

After the car has been washed thoroughly, dry it off(very important otherwise the car will have water spots), a shammy works really well or you can also use a microfiber towel, now comes the hard work, first off you want to use the clay bar (this will make the paint really smooth)spray a small section of the car with the lubricant that comes with the clay part, now just start moving the clay bar back and forth over the lubricant, don't push down to hard, you will be amazed at the stuff the clay bar pulls out of the paint, kneed the clay bar after doing each section.

Now use the paint cleaner, do a small section of the car at a time, let the paint cleaner haze up and then wipe it off with a soft terry towel(new is better), repeat this step for the polish, make sure all the cleaner and polish has been wiped off the car.

Use the wax applicator to wax the car, dampen the applicator and wax a small section at a time, let the wax haze up and wipe it off with a micro fiber cloth, keep turning the cloth over and use a clean section to remove the wax, now use the rim cleaner, spray down the rim, give it a couple mins to work and then hose it off, do the same with tire cleaner(careful with these products, don't get it on the paint), the last thing to do is dress the tires, spray the small sponges with the tire cleaner and wipe the tires (don't spray the tires, the stuff gets all over the paint is hard to remove) and wipe off any access tire dresser and now you will have a nice shiny car.

Takes between 3 to 6 hours to totally detail a car, but it's well worth the effort and time, your car will look brand new
