    Default DVD Boxset To AVI?

I have a complete DVD boxset of the 10 year TV series friends and I'm looking to use it on a media player as opposed to playing the DVD discs in a DVD player.

What I would like to do is have each series episodes as single .avi files.

What software, pay for or free, will let me do this without having to go back to College?

Gman the most important thing is ripping the episodic discs to your HDD in complete form. Once that's done I would guess ConvertXtoDVD, Super, or DVD Flick would get the job done. NEVER done this before so searching the net or waiting for someone smarter like 7th might be wise.

Cheers greensman, I'm familiar with ConverterX no Probs so I'd say I can handle that aspect of it

What I am confused about is the procedure & software required to get the individual episodes off the original disc's.

Would something like Shrink do it for me?

I'm not that proficient in this area so I'm open to all suggestions from those more capable than I

Do you know if the individual episodes are broke up into seperate titlesets Gman? There is prolly at least 5 epsiodes per disk. IF they are broke in to seperate titlesets then it can be easily done with Shrink or Decrypter or even a few others. If they are not it gets a little more cumbersome.

To be honest ferg I am just using friends as an example. It's more how to do it in general I'm after.

All DVD's have VOB IFO & PUP files I think & I don't have a TV series to hand right now to check, does each episode have a VOB file or can each VOB file contain many episodes?

Episodic discs are sometimes a different animal. They should be set up as separate vobs and therefore easily ripped with Dvd Shrink in reauthor mode where you should be able to simply drag and drop them then continue with the process from there. You'll probably need autoGK to convert them to .avi after ripping.

Sorry lads, didn't realize everyone was waiting on me.

When i get home i'll pull one off the shelf and have a look for you Gman.

Now that i think about it, Dvd Decrypter in IFO mode will do this, as well as CloneDvd Mobile.

The reason that I ask about the seperate titlesets is becasue you said that you wanted each individual episode as its own avi file.

What I would like to do is have each series episodes as single .avi files.
I have had some episode disks where they were all 1 titles set, so when you add the ifo for that vob set to AGK then you will have all the episodes as one avi. So if that was the case then you would have to look at what epsiode went with what numbers of vob files and merge them then you can add that to agk for converting.
