Got this one done today as well.

    As stated, piece of cake.

    DvdFab > VobBlanker > DvdRB > Imgburn.

I apologize if this isn't the correct place to make this post.

Why is DVD Rebuilder necessary after using VOBBlanker in your scheme to back-up The Taking of Pelham 123?

I've been using VOBBlanker for the first time today. Thank you for cluing me into a great ware.
I've used BLANK and CUT and then simply burned with ImgBurn.
It's GREAT! Am I missing something by not using DVD Rebuilder after VOBBlanker?

Regarding BLANK and CUT, does BLANK obliterate the image or just cover it over?
Could someone examine the burn to see the image underneath that I BLANKED?
Where as, I assume, CUT omits the selected area from the finished VOB?

BTW, I've never found the need to run AnyDVD in the background. Why is it necessary?

Before I used VOBBlanker, I used to
    1) not select unwanted parts in CUSTOMIZE mode in DVDFab.
    or
    2) rip the entire disc to HDD with DVDFab or RipIt4Me and then delete the VOB I didn't want before shrinking and burning with DVDFab or DVD Shrink and ImgBurn.

Just recently I encountered a disc where the above two methods didn't work.
Removing the "offending" VOB caused the resultant disc NOT to play correctly if at all.
VOBBlanker came to my rescue on that disc.

    Thank you

To put it simply, DVD Rebuilder takes the place of DVD Shrink, but only so much better. Although they both will enable you to fit your movie onto a single layer DVD, rebuilder is an encoder whereas Shrink is a transcoder.
Compressed Domain Transcoding is used by many popular DVD backup programs. It's much simpler than encoding. Rather than recalculate all the information required by an encoder, a compressed domain transcoder simply removes information from the original video stream. This results in a loss of detail, and is generally considered inferior to using an encoder to compress video. However, the relatively high speed, low cost, and ease of use associated with compressed domain transcoders like DVD Shrink and CloneDVD has made them popular.
    and from the DVDRebuilder site:

Over the course of the past couple of years DVD ripping techniques have changed dramatically. Newer "one click" programs have made backing up a DVD a fairly simple process... but there is a significant trade-off. The quality that can be attained by even the best of these programs is poor in comparison to original techniques that used Cinemacraft Encoder, HC Encoder, QuEnc, or other top-notch encoders. The reason is simple. When using one of these encoders the picture is rebuilt from scratch and optimized for the resulting bitrate. One-touch transcoders usually drop DCT coefficients or change quantization info in order to lower the bitrate. This can result in pixelation and poor overall picture quality.
AnyDVD is simply another ripping program that can be used in lieu of DVDFab.

As for the blanking and cutting, cutting is used from within the actual streams, whereas you can remove a portion of the film if not wanted. For instance, you could cut the credits off the end of the movie or remove segments to make a video complilation.
Blanking, will remove that VTS, cell, or program chain and replace it with a blank cell that matches the attributes necessary to have proper playback.

Edit: To add to what you said about needing Rebuilder for Pelham 123, I went back and re-run the movie through VobBlanker and after the normal cleanup and removing the un-needed audio streams, you were correct in thinking that no compression was necessary to burn to a single layer disk. My apologies, just the habit of listing it in my process.

So is the compressor in DVDFab a transcoder?
Is that why you're using DVD Rebuilder to shrink rather than DVDFab?

    Thanks

    Yes it is a transcoder.
