Default Building a website - Anyone willing to help?

    Request

Have we any members with experience in the building and hosting of a basic website?

Free would be nice but not absolutely necessary.

Are there any good website building tools available for users like me with no experience in this area?

Is any member willing to create a thread with tutorials on how to get started?

Or better still? Are there any members who would be willing to collaborate on such a project in order to lessen the burden on any one individual?

Maybe some simple do’s and don’ts would be a good place to start followed by how to plan and design your first website?

How and where to go to actually put it all together? Followed by how and where to go about hosting it?

I’m not looking for people to point to thousands of links for existing websites, but to compile our own section that would help take a newbe from start to finish.

It’s an area I know little about and have always wanted to give it a bash but I don’t have a clue.

I think it would be a nice addition to our forum?

If I had the ability and know how it would have been done long ago but I don’t so I can’t.

If you need help setting up your own site then of course I can help but my God where do I start.

Allot of domain name companies like 123.reg have there own site building built in software which is a piece of pi55 to figure out.

Allot of hosts have there own built in software styles etc for you to build your own site, hostgator isn't free but cheap and have allot of free templates you can use.

    Another is http://secure.hostgator.com/forward....FUEa4Qod3R0vCg. Fantastico

Fantastico is a great way to start out, especially for blogs, see here for what you can get out of it. Fantastico

Freewebs is another place to look but from past experiences they are slow and not worth the bother.

If there is interest in this I will add it to the forum and I will input from time to time, but I don't have the time personally to give full support on this subject.

Great idea though and I hope other's choose to get involved.

For you of course I would help you out but I just don't have the time for everyone.

I don't know jack about actually constructing a website from scratch, "The Man" made the post right above mine, but there are 2 tools that I have found indispensable for seeing the inner workings of pages and other site building blocks. Both of these are add-ons for FireFox. The Web Developer toolbar: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/fir...web-developer/
    and Firebug: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/firebug/

Gman first start with the design of the site, sketch this on a piece of paper and label where you want to put stuff, eg links, images, etc. From there then you need to decide what coding you will use for the website. I could help you if you want, after my studies that is of course, i will try finding some of my work from the past and show you what i have done so far.
