    sweet deals New DVD Player

    Hey,

I have a few .avi movies, and family videos that i want to play on my TV. I have been burning DVD's for quite a while now, and it does seem to get annoying, especially with the authoring that has be done so the movies can play on my old DVD Player. I was thinking of purchasing a new DVD Player that is capable to play avi/wmv/mp4 files by using either a USB Drive or External Hard Drive. I believe that this will benifit me alot. Can anyone give me any recommendations?

    Thanks.

Are you into HD? If so you may want to add an upconverter or a straight up BD player into the mix.

I'm not really fussed whether its in HD or not to be honest, i just want a player that can play .avi's through USB.

I might be getting the "Sumvision Phoenix Premium HDMI DVD/DivX Player DVD Player", thats what i have got my eye on at the moment, as i have found one on ebay, still on bid at the moment.

Updated Posted: I take back what i said about purchasing that DVD Player, just realised its latest codec compatible is 6.0, tried my avi movies with divx 6.0 and it wouldn't play.

You should look at something like THIS.

It's got HD too & it plays almost everything you throw at it including mkv's.

I use one myself & find it great.

It's only the size of half a DVD case (it's tiny) & you plug any USB external drive into it and away you go.

    Very reasonably priced too (IMO).

I'm really thinking of replacing the old DVD Player that i already have in the dining room. So i would prefer another DVD Player itself with the funcitionality of playing AVI Files. (Have to make sure it supports the codec that my avi files demand, the previous DVD Player i suggested isn't good enough to play my files).

I understood that I was only throwing out options that would eliminate the need to burn Disc's at all !

Not only does it make life so easy but the firmware is a pinch to update too.

WD reckon that they are dedicated to keeping on top of it.

The fact that it has no HDD installed is a bonus IMO as it gives great flexibility allowing you to use any external & or course it let's you use two at a time

    I'm well pleased

Excellent choice of DVD to display as reference.

I'm seriously looking into one of these as they'd be most handy.
