Default tv screen/pc monitor not working

Not sure if this is in correct area but cant find anything for tv screens.

Not had my pc on for a few days, decided to turn it on this morning. The screen is a Samsung tv.

Turned pc and screen on, screen came on with windows logo then all of a sudden it started flashing with 4 large bands of colour
    Red
    Green
    Blue
White, then flashed whole screen white. Cannot take a photo as its flashing to quick.

Turned pc off at on/off button screen still doing same thing. Tried to use tv remote to change the input and nothing on the remote seemed to work.
Does this mean that the screen is defunct???

Tv is about 4-5 yrs old and is used mainly as a monitor

Anyone got any ideas??? or do i need a new monitor/tv

    Hi Linny,
This may be stating the obvious but ensure your connections to monitor and PC are tight and secure. Take them off and give them a blow out.
If still a problem, see if the PC will display in Safe Mode by tapping the F8 button when switching the PC on and selecting Safe Mode incase it is something to do with a resolution setting.

No its not the connections or PC took out the vga lead and turned tv off at plug and switched back on again and still no screen just that band of colours! Cant do anything with thr tv remote to change source/channel etc, only thing it will do it turn on/off with remote.

    OK Panic over

I unplugged tv from mains ( and any other leads ) for about half hour. Then plugged all back in again and all working. Very strange as to why it happened and would not work after disconnecting everything. But after leaving for around 30 mins it works!
Very strange. Maybe it was letting me know it was unhappy as i had not used it since friday been using lappy instead
