would say windows 7 as he / she goes to Computer and not My computer which is XP but even then still need a lot more info a think. does the drive work on any others PCs regardless of OS have you tried changing the USB cable etc

even if the Usb lead is the right shape, the metal piece that goes into the HDD come in different lengths, I found this out by trial and error, when I had the same problem
