Default How to speed up Google Chrome browser?

Recently installed Google Chrome (v15) and found that it was a little slow on my old laptop with only 256MB RAM running on a 1.7Ghz celeron processor. I tweaked it a little by just unchecking some tick boxes and now its working a lot faster, pages are loading instantly!

By unchecking the boxes above you will find improved performance in Google Chrome:

Most of the tick boxes are concerned with features to speed up search results but it doesn't really make the world of a difference if you just type in what you want and hit enter instead of having the page load as your typing it (which lets face it, can be quite annoying at times).

The controversial one is probably the "Enable phishing and malware protection". If you have a good antivirus installed and a good grasp of telling apart legit and phishing links then you shouldn't really need this option ticked.

Also another thing, for every extension that you install for Google Chrome, it will take up a new process, so the more extensions you have, the more RAM that is going to be used.

And yeah there is this cool extension for Google Chrome, Screen Capture. It allows you to capture your entire browser screen or a segment of it, and then you can actually edit the capture within chrome and then save it to your computer! Makes it easier for people doing tutorials or a tips/tricks page.
