Dont understand what your trying to do here. You've wiped the os from the archos and your trying to install it again?
What os do you have on the thumb drive?
Doesnt the archos have android installed?

I think the worst thing you could have done was to wipe it, these machines are not the same as normal windows machines.
A possible solution would be too root it like other Android devices and install customized roms which probably would run better than the original bloated firmware. I believe xda developers have a thread on their site on how to root it and install custom roms. Of course it's at your own risk and will more than likely void your warranty. I think yours is a generation 9? Archos 10i is also known as archos 101 I believe.

hi axxxo it is the 101, i am not too worried about the warranty, if it ran any right (which it never did) would make me more than happy.

Well if you're willing to give rooting the device a go let me know and we can try to help out. Any idea if it's generation 8 or generation 9? G8 G9? I think myself it's G9...

    Rooting this looks complicated,

    This guide
    Code:
You need to register to see links. Register.
which is installed by following the guide found here
    Code:
You need to register to see links. Register.
and before you attempt to do this you need to install this
    Code:
You need to register to see links. Register.

Now, if you like, try powering off the device completely again and this time, before you power it back on, hold down the VOL- button and then press the power button.
Hopefully that might start up a recovery option, in which case you can then attach it to your computer and upload the firmware (official archos version) onto the device, once thats done detach the usb cable from the computer or archos and hopefully the archos will takeover in flashing the new firmware.
