MSI GT640 with Core i7 and Windows 7

Each day we look around it seems that someone is launching a new laptop with an Intel Core i7 processor, just as MSI have with its GT640 15.4-inch gaming laptop. The release date is around October 22, so will come with the much-anticipated Window 7 operating system.

    Engadget
MSI GT640 houses Core i7, claims to be 'world's most powerful gaming notebook'
tell us that the MSI GT640 notebook will also feature the powerful 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250M, this will run like a dream with the quad-core processor, and up to 4GB of DDR3 RAM. Storage comes in the way of a 500GB hard, would have been much smoother with an SSD, hopeful that could be an upgrade option.

The new laptop comes with a number of connectivity options, such as VGA, HDMI, Bluetooth, WiFi, eSATA/USB combo port and two standard USB ports. You will also get a choice of a 6-cell or 9-cell battery. Pricing and an exact release date are yet to be confirmed.

We just built a Core I7 desktop in the shop this last week, with 12 Gb of ram and a 300+ quid graphics card.

They are good dont get me wrong but
Core I5 will be the normal use laptop type as the I5 and I3 is for the consumer market.

I7 is good if you need hyperthreading which most people wont and i doubt any games will support for a long time.

Core I7 will be brief as the new Core I9 is in process and expected mid 2010 but it will be 6 cores instead of 4 so expect to pay a premium because it is a 32nm chip

On a footnote im building a core I5 for my machine and ive opted to go for I5 because of the all round performance versus cost

I5 costs about half of I7 so i have gone the I5 routeas the performance when overclocked is fractionally different than the I7

Ive seen a I9 clocked to 6.3ghz which is pretty sweet but not achievable with the I5 or I7

    anyway to finish the ramble
it will be good but i still think you will see more I5 in lappies than I7
