Windows 7 OS slower than Vista on boot up

Microsoft has been telling us for some time that the new Windows 7 Operating System is a vast improvement over Vista in all areas. One area of importance to us are boot up times, in was suggested that Windows 7 would be much faster at booting up than its predecessor, it seems that this information was wrong.

Most people who have been running the beta version of Windows 7 did report faster boot up times, however in a recent test by Iolo Technologies, which we came across via Engadget,
Software firm finds Windows 7 doesn't boot faster than Vista
they found that this was not the case. The maker of PC tune-up software put Windows 7 under a long-term test to see how the OS would perform under real world use.

Windows 7 took one minute and 34 seconds to boot, this was compared to one minute 6 seconds for Vista. The company also found that boot up times got slower over time for the new OS, a three-month old Windows 7 took an extra minute to boot. However, this was much faster than Vista in that time.

However, when Windows 7 was up and running Vista was not match for the new OS. In addition, when Windows 7 was in sleep mode, it had a much faster restart time than Vista. We will all get to see if these finding are true in a couple of weeks.

Windows 7 is hopes to revive Microsoft, this is according to Steve Ballmer, so the new OS needs to do a far better job than Vista did.

You haven't tried file sharing between 7 and a works laptop on XP yet, have you?

If you thought it was bad on Vista, you ain't seen nothing yet.

(I spent about 45 minutes on the problem earlier in the week, but got nowhere, so it looks like a Sunday afternoon job with a bottle or two of Vino to grease the wheels....and maybe a spare keyboard or two (I snapped the legs off this one due to Vista's shenanigans a couple of months ago))

Using Windows 7 for last few month and I am really impressed with it. Find it lot better than Vista in every way.
