UN-jailbreak me please!!

Hi potential help for me,
I was running my ps3 with 3.55 when I successfully did the jail break and downgraded to 3.41 (yes now I'm kicking myself for downgrading) Course now some of the games won't play at all unless I have a min. version of 3.42. I have only one game that will currently work! I have no idea what my original firmware is (pawn shop purchase)
I've decided that my family (god love them) can not remember the steps to do the jailbreak unless I'm in the house to do it for them! so I decided to just upgrade the firmware and run a retail ps3. HOWEVER..... I can't upgrade! I've tried online, USB and going into safe mode. I get a corrupted data 8002f169. I've tried 3.50, 3.55 and 3.56 and it just won't upgrade. I can't get it back into service mode like I did before... I've done a format, a restore and a 'rebuild database' all in safe mode. How can I get this *&^%(* thing to upgrade. all the stuff I read online says to just boot the ps3 normally and do an update... it's a no go here, should I just replace the HDD? what am I missing?

I forgot to mention I use the E3
 
hmm... no one can help?.... well here's where I am now, I after realizing I am running a modified 3.41, i downloaded the 3.40 along with the 2 self files.... I can not get my ps3 back into service mode with any .self file I have found anywhere. if I can't downgrade to 3.40, I can't re-upgrade to OFW 3.41 or anything for that matter. I put the self file on my E3, and boot/eject it only does the jailbreak it will not put it in service mode.
 
Sheli which custom firmware were you using,how are you updating,try updating using the usb method if you cant online,what model is your ps3

Maybe you should be a little more patient than expecting someone to help you within the hr especially as the time you posted was gone 1 am (uk time). Now you see Sinno has offered help at a more reasonable time of day. YOu cannot come on here and expect help in such a short time frame and then post an hr later saying you have had no help. Everyone on this and other forums gives their time when they can, so if your patient you WILL get help!
 
I didn't realize that it was 1am am there. My apologies. when I look around at other posts searching for stuff. it appeared that other post were answered within a few hours. I thought maybe there was no hope for me. I did end up up getting it updated and I believe there is something wrong with my e3 as it does not light up some of the time. I want to thank you for pointing out the time difference. In the future I will keep this in mind. I didn't mean to come off as inpatient and crabby. (it didn't help that I had a 6 year old crying because he couldn't play his game.) blah! my apologies again.
thanks for the advice Sinno... my problem was I was running on a modified 3.41 and couldn't load in the OFW 3.41 because my E3 wouldn't put my console into Factory service mode again. I was able to update to 3.50 via USB after many hours and attempts with the E3 being all weird.
 
The E3 seems to be giving problems and even there site seems to have dissapered,i cant rate the gt break highly enough,its the one i use,i used a ps3yes pro to do a downgrade and it went off without a hitch,also the minimus was what i was using before the gt break,all that said i am still on 3.41 hermes spoof 3.55 with gaia manager and multiman 1.15 and have all games running,let me no which ones are giving you trouble and we can see whats to be done,i use modified eboots for some

no problem! can understand your frustration! members do come on here all hrs of the day and night but for different reasons and its quite a large forum, so you may see posts that time of the day/night but you Question is a little more specialized.
as they say patience is a virtue :)
