Advice please, I'm using openvix.
Should my epg location in settings be set to internal flash or to Hdd?
Many thanks

i use a kingston 8gb usb in rear to store my epg to as some boxes can store to hdd
big no no to internal flash.

Any where but the internal flash. EPG data is live data and very prone to corruption. If it is saved to the receivers internal flash and it does become corrupted the resulting file would easily swamp the flash resulting in a full on boot loop. You would then either have to FTP into the receiver and delete the EPG data or reflash. or worst case scenario it could even prevent the receiver from booting altogether again resulting in a full reflash.

Thanks all, just altered it to separate USB stick. It was set to flash. I've got an internal Hdd but as you say probably too big.
Thanks again.
One last thing how do I change the schedule so it updates at say 5am?
Thanks
G

It's been over a year since I last used ViX and cant remember the exact steps but it's there in the EPG setup menu you really cant miss it. I always leave all my boxes set to update at or around 04:00.

aye found out the hard way when box had it stored to internal flash as i new no better and needed reflashing many times.

Yes mate thats why we originally placed the nag message in the EPG setup screen warning users not to use the flash as their storage point, not that any one really takes any notice of them.

Why can't an image block the option for internal flash? If no hdd or usb attached give a warning that epg cannot be used till an external device is connected

When you are developing images every thing you do is wrong in some ones eyes, if that feature had been implemented there would have been no end to the complaints coming in. People should be smart enough to be able to read and follow a warning/ nag message and do what it says. If they dont then when things do go tits up they only have them selves to blame.
