Record a program using TimeShift

I have TimeShift enabled and working OK.

Yesterday I switched on the TV and the tuner was on ITV. A program that my kids were interested in was half way through, but I had assumed that as Time Shift is working that I could press record and it would record the entire program from the start. However, it didn't do this. The program was only recorded from the moment I pressed the record button.

Could someone please tell me how to use Time Shift in a situation like this so that the program (from the start) could be recorded?
 
Try rewinding to the start of the program and pressing record at the start, not sure itl work though, and not sure what you describe can be done. Why not hit record at the start anyway? For time shift to work you would have had to be watching from the start.

If you press record, the pop-up menu has an option to record with Timeshift an it will start at the beginning.

I did, but it didn't seem to work, in that I then changed over the channel (as I didn't want to watch the program half way through) and at the end the recording was only 1 minute long. Just for good measure I then also recorded the program, but in hindsight perhaps that was wrong!

I then tried it again after reading the above and it worked fine this time. So either I did something stupid the first time, or me also recording the program mucked up the ability to record time shift.
