Box wont recognize usb

A guys brought me a box to sort out, 5 minute job I thought. The epg doesn't have anything on it, tried downloading cross epg and channel scan but nothing, looked at it again and the usb aint even showing, tried it in front port and thats the same. Ive tried a brand new usb and still nothing. Any ideas. its running woosh 4
 
okay first of all whats the problem with the box?
channels not clearing?
no epg
anything else, did you try install crossepg via usb stick which it didn't pick up?
 
Channels all work, looked at where the epg is stored and the usb isnt showing. Ive initialized a new usb in my box and its all done ok but when ive put it into the other box and run cross epg the screen comes up where its downloading but when you go back to the epg its still the same

Ah yes, but have you gone into Mount manager and mounted the USB as HDD and then gone into Crossepg settings and told it to save to HDD?

Usually the problem solver for what you describe.
 
just looked in mount manager nothing there...yes ive done swap file when I initialized it using my box
 
have you tried a different usb stick?

Personally I would install v5 and start again setup from scratch - if you choose to do so, back up the line and settings :)

Therein lies your problem, start again by fully formatting the USB drive on your PC to fat32 and then see if the box recognises that a USB
drive has been inserted either back/front and then try to mount as HDD and and change to Ext 4.
Once you have some external place to store the EPG.dat the epg will populate.

PS. I agree with @Burlesy, flash V5, V4 is not being supported anymore, and start again. Only takes a few minutes and is much better.
 
Yes tried a different usb, normally I would just reflash but what if the box is buggered and wont let me flash, box is all working well sort of, and knowing my look I would kill it completely

I know where you're coming from, but a box without an EPG is "hard work".
Did you try what I suggested ? ie. full format to fat32 and then insert into box?
 
Not for me mine all works so who cares :) No not yet Ive rang him and hes says to just reflash.,,,after Ive watched football though ay. Ive got my priorities right
 
Do you think its the box cos ive just tried to reflash but its not doing anything other than counting up, using either slots. What happens if I factory reset the box which I know your not meant to and it will totally brick the box, but its as if the usb slots are buggered
 
Noooo! Don't factory reset.

I'm presuming here that you've inserted a USB stick containing the 'zgemma' file and pressed the rear, white, power button on ?

I had a blonde moment, I can try flash online. I was thinking the only way was by usb

The box reflashed and is all sorted...thanks guys for your help
