I only seem to get 2 months regular use out of an OpenATV image before it begins to malfunction. The last November image began to lose audio on recorded files. Flashing with the latest ATV image seems to have solved the problem. I always wonder why images are continually being updated. Is the system full of bugs ?

Openatv releases a number of updates and supposed improvements every night.
Sometimes, an update can in fact have a detrimental effect on existing features and will need to be corrected with another update.
One way to avoid this is to use a ready made build/image which depending on the one you install may have already had any updates/bugs resolved for ease of use.
