WeTek Play 2 - Great replacement?

I currently have a dedicated ZGemma H.2S box setup for viewing Sat channels. I've also been using the Android-based boxes for Kodi and wanted to combine the two together.

Now I know Enigma has some support for Kodi but I find it clunky and unsupported in some respects. Now I did some research and found out about the WeTek Play 2 box which runs on Android but has it's own swappable DVB-S2 Tuner built-in which is great. Now it's all great having support for this but what about things like Autoboquets and support for N-Line add-ons like NewCamd, MGCamd and CCam?

I've read into the TVHeadend service but slightly confused with how this works. Do you need a separate machine to run the backend or can this all be ran through OpenELEC?

Does the WeTek support N-Line add-ons natively?

just buy a superior box. i have the duo2 and it runs the kodi plugin like an andriod box just faster and doesnt crash

I already have the H.2S which is considered the high-end box from them. I'm not a fan of the current Enigma 2 kodi plugin and thus, why I want an official route.

That's not quite fair. They're decent boxes that do the job. But they're entry level stuff.

There fire hazards that will burn someones house down with there sh*t plugs my opinion.

Unfair indeed. I've been running two ZGemma boxes and they're brilliant little boxes - been running them for over 2 years, with other friends having the same. They may not be high-end but they do they job and offer an adequate experience - certainly faster than what I've had. You're forgetting not everyone has the money for a Technomate or similar box.

Exactly not everyone has the money they no that and are cashing in on it releasing cheap box after box.
I have set up alot recently all from reputable dealer yet they
All come with diffrent plugs, some with laptop style some with just a plug why is that????
My opinion they cant keep up with demand and are throwing any old plug in.
Risking lives.
And yes i have told airsat.
This is my opinion and i wouldn't have one in my house.

Not everyone has money for a vu no bit the eddison is £20more than the zgemma and is alot more solid.

Not too sure where you've been getting your boxes from then.

I've had 4+, all within months of each other, and the cables/connectors have all been the same.

Always ordered from zgemma.co.uk.

the duo2 does run the proper version of kodi like any andriod box. its the version the zgemma can handle which is rubbish as it takes a lot of processing power. the duo is a quad core as opposed to a twin and runs kodi perfectly

I would expect so for £300+ which I cannot afford haha.

I've been buying boxes in double figures every week and for the past 4 months they've all had the same plug on them, It sounds to me that you're getting sold older stock which had the 2 pin plug and adaptor. These changed months ago.

Don't buy the Wetek unless you want to enter a world of buggy updates each one worse than the last. It is only single tuner, only now and next epg ( if it even decides to do that much ) apps crash randomly and without any apparent reason, read the Wetek forum and see the issues people are facing. When using the Wetek Libreelec on sdcard is better, TvHeadend takes a bit of getting used to but will pull in decent epg and kodi experience is better, but Android is diabolical. Even the forum mods seem to be developing an abrupt manner as they have so many complaints to deal with. I managed to sell mine 2 days ago and cannot recommend the Play 2 to anyone, especially when all updates for the original Play 1 stopped as soon as the Play 2 appeared. Will the same happen to the play 2 when the 2s appears next year.

There is no support for autobouquets and only oscam for the play2 to answer your other question, editing channels on the Android side is not a good experience

If i have been getting old stock then its down to zgemma uk.
As said the boxes are shite my opinion

Half the people with them couldn't set it up if it wasnt for wooshbuild.

Even if i couldn't afford a vu as said the eddison pisses all over the zgemma in terms of reliability and hardware so for the extra £19 most can afford it.

If you want android get a android box.

You're obviously not buying them from a reputable dealer then. The only official website is Zgemma Star Satellite Receiver's - Official Store in the uk and I've bought many through them. All plugs have been the same so god knows what you've been buying.

The boxes are officially supported by OpenATV and OpenPLI and are no different to setting up any other box. I've used Woosh once but switched to OpenATV - fine to setup and no hassle.

Feel free to expand more on why they are shite as you mention.

Thats the place i got the fire hazards from.
I dont need a education lesson on zgemma as i would never have one so dont care who supports them really.
My opinion there shite
Your opinion there not

I find it quite laughable you detest them but your only opinion is "They're shite". It doesn't really show you hate them, just jumping on the bandwagon to detest them because they're not boxes that cost upwards of £200+ and are no VU+ or Technomate.

You had a bad experience, I appreciate that but 2 people, including myself, have both said you must have gotten an off-chance one. I've been buying them from there since I started with Zgemma and not once have I had a different plug to the rest. Not once have I smelt smoke, dealt with anything fire-related due to these boxes. They're on 24/7 pretty much and not once have I had a fire/hazard from them.

Zgemma is an affordable option for those who can't afford the bigger brands.

You mention "reliability and hardware", all H.2S boxes are still going strong for well over 1/2 years so I don't see how Edison would have an edge over the ZGemma. The Edison OS Mini Dual Tuner is £99 (add in the shipping costs) at *** and the spec is like for like on the Zgemma H.2S apart from the extra 256mb of storage on the Edison.

I'm also not too sure why you're even here. Not once have you contributed a valid point to the discussion apart from to spread your hate for ZGemma it seems. If you don't like ZGemma, that's fine but don't go ruining other folk's post just because you don't have a valid point to say and were bored so decided to post.
