How much for a good server

Hi I'm new to this, just wondering how much it usually costs for a good server/ccline for sky?

Wondering whether to buy a pre installed box or do myself

Price isn't necessarily a guide to quality, just make sure you test it before you buy.

But definitely do it yourself, you'll learn loads more about the box.

Thanks janso I think I'll do that, love having a mess around with stuff like this anyway :). Roughly how much should I expect to pay?

Sorry, worded my post badly. £40 for a year is about what you can expect, £10 per month I'd say.

Why would anyone pay £10 a month? That's £120 a year! Like you said you can get a year for £40! I'd say £10 for 3 months is about right.

Well you wouldn't really as most people just go for a year up front. But some people like to go month by month.

I definitely wouldn't pay £10 a month and I've not seen any supplier as of yet offer monthly, I've seen quite a few offer 3 months and they range from £10-£15.

I've had quite a few - my current cable supplier does £10 a month and it's rock solid.

I've got no experience with cable servers and suppliers can't get cable in my neck of the woods, I know cable servers are more expensive then satellite, regardless it's better then paying sly of vermin prices! If you're getting a rock solid service then all good but £10 a month to me is a bit excessive.

Lots of servers advertising £10 a month for cable on another forum as they are not allowed to advertise for more than 6 months subs hence they advertise 1, 3, and 6 months subs with the option to negotiate for more privately. When buying a years subs my average findings are ..... sky = £40 and cable = £80

Like I said above I've no dealings with cable servers, the OP was asking about a line for sly and at first £10 a month was said with no mention of that being for cable, if that's the current going rate for cable then fair enough, in my experience with sly lines £10-15 for 3 months or £40 a year.

I've had a few sat lines that I could purchase for £10 a month if I'd wanted in the past. Personally always buy sat lines for the year but I know that people do offer it monthly (even if not widespread), and some people do prefer to do it that way for whatever reason.

But yeah, test line should be good enough to see if the server is shit or not so just make sure you try a few before you buy.

Cable servers are more expensive as they require more cards. As for a Sat server anything from £40 to £80 a year. I have ditched both and gone down the iptv route £70 year all movies and sports in HD but you do need good internet speeds.

So i'm useless at this and bought the box, this site is amazing, use the wooshbuild on here and ask for a line, I have paid £40 as for me it's quality over pound notes, make sure the person you buy it from has been on here for a while, don't respond to the emails telling you about someone else, get a test line and keep the same line and dont buy off ebay!!

The people on here are fantastic and will help you if you make an effort.

I pay £80 a year for cable , sat is finished for me as when hd went i left asap , most tvs are made for a lot better quality now than bog standard sd

For some though sat is the only option, the fact I'm saving well over a grand a year I can live without hd.
