    Default Kryptview A780 2010 firmware

Just purchased one of these box's

It has 2010 firmware on the box and as far as i can gather i need to download a "Loader"? and then the firmware? for april 2011? is this correct?

I have a Null modem cable. my laptop is windows7, so im all ready to go. Just never have done this before, so any help would be appreciated.

I have purchased 2 kryptviews in the past but they already had the option to do a S/W update.

    Thanks for the reply

I have downloaded the loader, however when i download the update and try to open it. i get a message like this :

    Windows cant open this file

    File: Kryptview_A780_240411.bin

With directions to either find a program or search the net for one.

So i think ive downloaded the firmware, but cant find a program to put it too? baffled

Use the link in cactikids post the loader is a small program to download new firmware to the
    kryptview box.

Don't try to open the bin file by clicking on it as you have found out what happens.

Download the loader, run the program and brouse to the april bin file
hit the download button in the loader program and it should start flashing your box.

You can then do a s/w update over the net using only your remote control
    from the installation menu

Loader program says (Uploaded by Lanx - 20-04-2009) in the download section

Follow the link below Read post 10 tells you how to download a driver for USB lead and set up your comm ports so the bin file can be transfered to the box

or read the post titled "Kryptviewr RS232to usb" in this section

    Code:
    http://www.techkings.org/kryptview/32966-kryptviewr-rs232to-usb.html
post back if you are still having problems

I already have those drivers. downloaded them the other day. its currently set to COM5...
    Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM5)
    This device is working properly.

If you are having problems with this device, click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter.

I've just changed the baud rates to 115200, tried loading it onto the box and still says "the dowloading is not requested"

Does the box need to be reset to factory settings? is does that not matter?>

USB convertor leads sometimes give bad connections
give it a wiggle where it joins the null modem cable.

Make sure you are switchin the box on from the switch
at the back, not from standby button.

Still no luck, If you have the driver, right comm port and baud rate
it must be a faulty lead.

You should be using a "null modem" cable, it looks exactly
like an RS232 you cant usually tell the difference when
    looking at them.
