    which ip address for router?

I'm trying to link two routers together wirelessly using dd-wrt on the client, while I can connect to the primary router I get no net access. My pc connected direct gets internet ok but is usually handed ip 192.168.1.72 (prefered) The primary router is 192.168.1.254 . There are four or five devices attached to the primary wirelessly. If I'm correct its an ip address issue but do I set my client router to 192.168.1.253 or down near 192.168.1.73. Currently I dont have full access to the primary router but nothing has worked so far. Any ideas?

    Hi

Ive a main router that has gateway 192.168.0.254,
The second router to use the gateway/subnet of the first, and set the ip address to to 192.168.1.254.

On the primary, print server, media server pc, amd other devices are set up as static ip.
The second router will be used soley for wireless access.
You can still share ect by using the UNC of the machine or ip address
    both have dhcp enabled.

    to clarrify;

    Primary router (connected to WAN)
    Channel: 06
    WPA2-PSK[AES]
    SSID:Primary (or watever)
    Gateway: 192.168.0.254
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0

    Second Router:
    Channel: 11
    SSID: WAP01 (or watever)
    WPA2-PSK[AES]
    Gateway: 192.168.1.254
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0

You could add more if you have a large house with dead spots.
With my setup, the kids and consoles use the second router(plus used as a dead spot access), while the primary is used for devices as above,
pc systems,IP camera and VNC. I did have a access point in the shed for when in the garden with laptop.

OR....easiset way is to just have the link cable as above, but set second router as DHCP off, and give a static address.
If you have the option to use as access point then you can just use that.

    Hope it helps

    Rich
