We had our second one die here earlier this week.....she worked as a receptionist at a doctors office. She had went out of town for a family gathering, came back to work sick, saw her doctor, and found she had swine flu. She had no travel to mexico in over 6 months. She died after about 15 days.....mother of 2 kids.
swine flu down here by a third in the last week.
"Mors Certa, Hota Incerta"
Methinks it'll get worse come fall.
have to agree 7th, this autumn/ winter will be one disaster. the number of cases of flu increases greatly normally, so with the panic caused by the media coverage, the hospitals/doctors surgeries will be packed to the gills.
a colleague of mine has a flu with 6 of the 8 markers for H1N1 and has been quarantined for one week. thank god that those with reasonably good health dont seem to get the worst of this swine flu.
Lets hope the vaccine is perfected in the short term and that enough can be produced to go around.
my commiserations to the family of this lady. may she rest in peace.

The American CDC and the WHO believe that the flu vaccine will our greatest hope of averting this illness. Although there will be deaths due to the flu vaccine, it most likely be less than being w/o the vaccine. Also for the elderly and compromised patients, a pneumonia vaccine will be prudent as pneumonia is a major deadly sequlae to the swine (H1N1) flu.
We still have 117 confirmed cases in the county. There is now a lab in town that can process the cultures in 8hrs.
