Default Boy, 4, Killed In South London Flat

Police have launched a murder inquiry after a four-year-old boy was found stabbed to death at a flat in Southwark, south London.

Lynton Estate in Southwark, south London

Officers discovered the child's body when they were called to an incident at a flat in Southwark, south east London, yesterday evening.

A man and a woman, aged 28 and 31, believed to be the boy's parents, were also taken to hospital with stab wounds.

The 28-year-old woman, who had suffered a neck wound, has since been discharged from hospital.

The 31-year-old man, who had multiple stab wounds, remains in hospital in a serious condition.

A baby girl, aged 17 months, was also found at the flat in Lynton Road, on the Lynton Estate. She was unharmed.

Investigators believe the woman and boy were attacked by the man who then attempted to kill himself at around 6pm.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said no one has been arrested and officers are not looking for anyone else.

He said: "Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a four-year-old boy in Southwark.

"We know the identity of the dead child but not all next of kin have been notified at this stage.

"The man remains in a south London hospital. His condition is believed to be stable."

The death is being investigated by officers from the Met's Child Abuse Investigation Command, based at Stratford.

Detective Inspector Keith Braithwaite is responsible for the inquiry.

The spokesman added: "At this stage, officers are looking into all the circumstances surrounding the child's death.

"There have been no arrests and they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident."
