Bath Taps Leaking

So I decided to have a bath with it being winter instead of a shower. Thing is when I try and turn off the hot tap it dribbles water. I had a plumber out on another job 2 years ago and he had a quick look and said it could be the washer and did something to it. He didn't fit any new part.
Having watched a clip on youtube apparently it could be that the tap inner needs regrinding?
Was hoping to have a go at fixing this myself but don't have a re-grinding device.
Any ideas how much a plumber would charge to fix this, cheers.

if you know how to use a cross head screwdriver it will take you a good five minutes.

turn the supply off to the taps , then take off the middle cover in the centre of the top of the tap, there's a cross head screw under this, undo that and you'll be able to see if it takes a rubber tap washer, or (more likely) a ceramic cartridge - you'll need a spanner to undo the nut, hold the tap with your other hans to prevent the whole thing spinning.

the cartridges are about £7 a pair from Screwfix, take the old one with you as there's a few different sizes, change both as the other one won't be far behind

If its an old circa tap, then the rubber washer could be screwed on, maybe time for an upgrade m8 ???

a bit late i know, but, would assume when plumber looked at it previously he done usual thing of turning the rubber washer over , prolem solved, seems now the washer needs replacing, a few pennies at the plumbing store and 10 minutes with waterr turned off will sort it :)

Unfortunately, most taps installed in the past 20 years don't take an old fashioned rubber tap washer any more - oh no, we've improved things now by inventing taps that have 'cartridges' - ceramic things which are no improvement whatsoever and are IME a step backwards, and have no washers to replace, the entire cartridge needs replacing....because we're all simpletons these days - we're not allowed to change a plug in case we kill everyone in the house and anything regarding water requires a team of plumbers drafted in from far afield. This is another 'improvement' we didn't need like the replacement of the normal toilet cistern that had a ballcock that has worked perfectly well for the past eighty or so years, with this abortion where you have to inform the bog as to whether you've had a crap or a slash and press the small or big button then it decides to slosh down half a pint or a full pint of water depending on what you've deposited and how your digestive system is functioning, then repeat four or five times while you stand looking at the pathetic silver button, wondering why your normal sized turd won't go away and you're imagining that everyone else in the house is thinking you've dropped a 7lb growler that won't be flushed when in reality it was a little floater that won't sink.

managed to take the tap tops part off and replaced the washers £1, cleaned them up, put a bit of silicone around the tap valve and screwed up back up. no drips and okay for a bath now!
