Default Problems With VLC Media Player Playback

My problem with VLC lies in the fact that it hardly ever functions properly with DVD menus, especially on ripped files. I can go to open folder and open the the movie folder and the menu will appear (sometimes) but I am unable to click on any of the options. WHat am I doing wrong. The same files will work perfectly when opened with Media Player Classic. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hmmm...curious as i typically don't have any issues with menus during playback.

Are you playing from an .ISO, or from Video_TS, or from .AVI?

I usually just click on the movie folder itself and it opens up. Not sure about what file it actually opens first. But I never save in the ISO format and they are not avi's, so I guess it would have to be the Video_TS file. How do you usually play back your flicks? I never have been overly impressed with the user friendliness of the program, but it has more features than MPC, so I am trying to get more familiar with it.

If they're rips then you're playing then it's the VOB's in the Video_TS folder.

Typically i simply drag and drop the Video_TS folder into VLC and normally don't have a problem. However, that being said i've run into what you're referring to a couple of times as well.

I'm investigating it further R4. Hopefully someone comes along that is more familiar with the in's and out's of VLC that can help.

That is weird if I do as you say and drag the Video_TS folder into VLC then they work fine. But if I actually use the command from the menu and click open folder and navigate to the movie folder itself that way, it loses the menu functions. Not sure why that is, but at least now I know how to do it one way. Thank you 7th for all your help
