    Fail rj45?????

    hi peeps

i have to turn on an sv7 and have done a couple so thought it would be a doddle. the box in question has not got the ethernet/rs232 converter adapter thingy on the back. i had no idea where to get one so i looked on the famous fleabay i found ethernet to rs232 converters at £200

i thought this was not the plug i needed. i also found rs232 to rj45 converters at £1.99 and these seem to fit the bill a bit better than the first ones so i ordered one.

problem is it has come with the plug on one side with wires hanging out and there is a seperate female plug and i am expected to put the right wires to the right numbers on the nine pin plug. i can understand why this is done but i know nothing about what goes where. i would be real grateful if someone could either tell me what goes where or if someone can tell me where i can buy one of these adapters without having to DIY.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi mate, the problem I see here is that I have no experience of that box, we in Ireland were cut off a long time ago, but if you were to give a picture of the bit you bought, or the ebay code(so people could see it) there would be quite a few more replies.
not being critical, just trying to help you out.

    Hi pizzaman

I believe skywonder used to sell them, i do not know if they still do but I would google them and give them a ring bud.

    right

i got intouch with skywonder and have found they do not stock and have no intention of stocking in the near future

so i got in touch with the uk sv importer previously known as wizard. not only have they changed their name but they have stopped supplying starview altogether

i have just found a guy who says he has 6 spare ones at a cost of £25 each

i am getting one now and if anyone needs one i can let you know where to get one until this guy runs out
it took me days to find one and it was painstaking as the box i had to do belonged to family

my advice to anyone who comes to you with a missing lan adapter asking for help.......
    if possible
ask them to go forth and multiply
