dreambox 500s wont connect to dcc

Hi my brother gave me this box and I flashed commando 14.7 on it and connected ok with dcc,i cant find a tut that tells me what else I have to do to get fta channels on so read somewhere about bouquets so I tried to flash it to the box and the dreambox wont connect,it wont see the ip address on it even when ive searched it on dcc,the com port is correct too,i don't understand how it done it before and not now,i don't get option to scan channels on box as says no channels found
ive never dealt with this type of box before,please help some1,thanks

not sure long time since i had one if its just fta just do a sat scan to find the chans also on dcc think i had to put a tick in switch/hub
before i done a search

to be honest I never liked the commando images,,,they are so frustrating to use,,,,,,,,,flash an open pli image,,,,,,i use filezilla for ftp,,,,and dreamset for adding latest channel list,s which are easily found .use dreamup for flashing......and a null modem cable.....a great little box for starting on....
