Was just messing around with the web interface of the DM500 and it is awesome!
There is a "Messag2Box" feature that allows a message to be sent to the Dreambox and it will display on the TV.
There is also a feature where it displays an image of the remote and you can simulate the remote by clicking on the remote buttons displayed on the image via your mouse.
There is also a feature to change the channels on the Dreambox, and also a feature to set a timer to change channels at a certain time, aswell as record. Thats ofcourse if you have the record feature setted up to save the recording to your PC/Laptop.
