Dreambox virgin!!!!

Hi, I can honestly say I've never seen a dreambox let alone work one.

I have the Kryptview with cable and am quite happy with that.

Reason for my thread, a friend of mine knows that I can sort out the Kryptviews (only from looking on here) and wants me to help him with his dreambox but I wouldnt know where to start.

The fella he bought it from said he wants him to pay £120 to update it for him which is why he's asked me.

Would anyone know what kind of update this would be, is it like a yearly thing from a kind of subscription. Would i be able to do it myself and what equipment/software would I need. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry I dont know anything else, was hoping it might be a regular thing that you dreambox users would know.

if its for virgin you will need to no how to get the boxkey of the virgin box and its not easy
 
you will need to see what model he has,cable,terrestrial,sat as in dvb/c,dvb/t,or dvb/s all different.
 
Hi it's a satellite one and its a dvb, he said its a yearly thing so just need to know if I can get software and put on a stick and update it or whatever. Cheers.
 
These boxes have been out ages and are a bit behind the times when it comes to
picture quality.

Even a brand new DM500S is only £35, everyone wants HD these days
and I would pay the extra £15 for an HD box.

You would be better off buying an F5, and putting your own line in,
you will have a new box that is HD for around the price he wants.
