Ethernet or WiFi

My connection with my Mag256w1 box is via a wired ethernet but I also noticed that the wifi connection is connected at the same time
when I go into settings and networks both are showing as available so am not sure which one is actually connecting me. I carried out a speed test and on several occasions it was showing between 19 and 21mps.
Will having both connected will they conflict with each other?
or should I disable the Wifi connection?

You'd always expect a better connection via ethernet so personally I'd disable WiFi
