Hopefully a quick question and a quick answer. I have searched elsewhere and could not find a definitive answer.

Zgemma H2S was up and working then I had a problem with the line so I reflashed with Whooshbuild and all seems stable again. However, I had to remove my external hard drive which had a load of recordings on it and when I reattached it I got a message saying no media to view on this drive. the question is a) do I have to re-initialise the drive and b) if I do I guess I will lose all the recordings?

Is there a way around it as the drive had already been initialised previously

Have you checked it is mounted properly on the box?
Menu - information - devices and see what path it says under detected devices (it should be media/HDD)
 
OK go to menu - info panel - plugins - mount manager
Press green to setup mounts and change your hard drive to media/HDD
Reboot your box and it should be setup ok again
