firmware v3.0 starview 6 and 7

hello ther
was just looking on ebay to buy a box for a friend and i was checking the starview subscribe 6 or 12 mnths and when you sroll down and read the information about it it says you will need firmware v3.0 with todays date on 14/7/12 can anyone shed any light on this as its looking like a new firmware as come out to get our boxs working again
