Satellite Help crashed box stuck on boot

I've just managed to get a new h1 setup and running how I like it so thought I'd create a backup image as a precaution so I was running i agave manager in vix. It was stuck on 18% for ages then some error about timeout and box needs to restart , however it's not restarting its just stuck saying boot , running latest sucmnsee image ,
any ideas please

Had to do a re flash , what's the best way to back up my image and settings without this happening again
