Infrared extender for h2s

Hi
Can anyone give me advice on which infrared extender works on the h2s. I bought this:

But doesn't seem to work, am I putting it on the wrong position!?

I store the box in a sideboard with closed doors, so just want to use the remote whilst the box is stored.
A bit like a magic eye.

Ever get this to work?? I 'm looking to implement a similar solution but unsure what kit would be required (cant see an IR connector on the back of the box)
