A 27-year-old man has been killed and a woman was injured in a stabbing attack at a house in Waterford.
A 24-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death in the Glen area.
The attack happened at about 5.30am on Sunday morning.
Gardai said detectives are investigating all circumstances surrounding the death.
A post-mortem examination is being carried out at Waterford Regional Hospital by State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy.
The woman is being treated at the same hospital and gardai said her injuries are not life- threatening.
The arrested man was detained for questioning under section four of the Criminal Justice Act.
