My road to multi sat (motor)

going to start from fresh tonight

Talk all down and set the angels on the ground

I find with the dish and motor
There is marking but it doesn’t make it clear where the reading referes too

Right so I watched this
What I got from it

So for the level is done with the front edge of the nut
Then go to the extremes of the dish
Never thought of that
 
Don't go by the digital display on the motor it.is not accurate If your elevation
Is 54 your polar elevation is 35.4 your
Declination ofset should be 7
 
90 _ 54 your latitude =36 allowing 1 degree for your correction angle polar
Elevation 35.4 _7 modified declination ofset= 28.4 Thats how i work the elevation of the dish
 
So the motor should be set to 35.4
And the dish should be at ?

Lost much now lol

Was out having a wee play in the garden with the dish

So learnt a few things

Compass, doesn’t work great next to a big metal satellite lol

Trying to get south


Also I thought I had it lined up great on Thor, turned out to be 19 so a mile out
But I had 19 well strong lol

So would I need to tip my angel? Thor is higher than 19?

Not I’m not much closer but I’m learning


Also I put the second wire to the lnb and wired it to my section tuner, that was a great help
That’s how I found I was on 19, with a scan
Any way of scanning for other satellites like thor

Thor is at the top off the ark with that
size off dish when you locate thor your
S.n.r on the v and h side off the transponder should be 90+ If you don't
Have a meter have you tried dish pointer pro app or sat finder app Download to your phone The app
Has a pointer to south put your phone
Under the arm off the dish with the
Buser on move the move the motor
And dish until the buser peaks at south

Have to correct myself its sat catcher
App 2 pound to download

Got the app. Will give it a go at some stage

I think I need to move my dish up
If twisted around I got 19 it must be low and not picking up thor
 
Have you tunner.A configured what
Settings have you applied Sometimes
The motor and reciever will not
Pair up If you remove the limits then try
To drive the motor to zero
 
i have no idea what happened but i went out to the motor and held the buttons in for 10 seconds and i moved the motor back to zero at the motor

but i have good news!

i think i got the arc

so i brought a tv, old h2s out and the hellobox
wired one of the ports on the lnb to the motor and h2s and the other to the hellobox connected to my phone

got everything lined up straight

went to the tv and box, set the motor to go to 28.2 and moved up and down at the dish and left to right on the back of the motor

until signal was good and strong

then moved the motor back to 0.8, once again i moved left and right at the back of the motor, up and down on the motor and up and down on the dish until i got a signal
most up and down until i got a strong

then moved back to 28.2 to check the arc ended back on 28.2 and it did

so i think im on the arc

Question more for siilver and linesman 66, i was supposed to help one of my sons mates set up a motorised system today, but he cant do it to Friday now, he is up near Belfast zoo and his house is on a steep hill, i am just hoping for some pointers as to what sat to try and set up for, i have done my own on 2 different houses and helped a few friends with theirs, but we are all not too far from one another and a long way from Belfast zoo, i have always set up for 0.8w Thor and once for 5.0e, if yous have any ideas that might help, then that would be great, thanks.
