Raspberry Pi question !

if I bought the raspberry pi, would I need a subscription plan for streaming ?
At the moment im using NTV to stream TV but my subscription ends soon and I wont be paying for it again because I can't afford it at the moment..
So would I be able to stream TV free or would I need a subscription to a streaming site??
 
If it's running android you could install an iptv client and go that way, as far as I know you have the option to boot into two operating systems on the pi so another opinion is to install the xbmc version also and stream live TV through this
