Series links/timers on iptv?

Would anyone know if it’s possible to set series link/timers on iptv via a smart tv?

TV would obviously have to have storage, doesn't come as standard.
Probably better to tell us make and model, but my experience would say that TVs can read, not write to USB.

Currently haven’t got a smart tv but am thinking of getting one soon....was just checking if would be possible to hook up external hard drive and have the ability to set timers on iptv
