Updating open ATV

Hi I am currently running open atv 5.1 and have seen there is a newer 5.3 version.

Would I have to back things up like my line and image before updating the firmware, or is it safe just to flash the new version with usb stick without having to do anything?

Any help would be great

Backup your settings. This will backup your line.

Then when you flash 5.3 online it SHOULD give you an options list, you want number 1. Be prepared to see German though but pressing the red button should change the language - just look at the screen options.

Once it flashes it SHOULD see your backup and ask you to restore :-)

Just make sure you have a copy of your line elsewhere other than the box just for being safe
 
Can anyone help please, when I try to flash my h.2s with the new openatv 5.3 firmware it shows USB on the LEDs and when I press standby to begin the flash it displays UPdt.
It will not put the new firmware on for some reason
