Hi I'm new to this but here goes anyway.
I've bricked my Openbox V8S after the second time using USB so I've bought a
USB to female serial cable. I've asked seller to confirm the cable is twisted too.

Cleared down my com ports so that the cable is on
    COM3 set to (Bits/Sec : 115200 , Data Bits : 8 , Parity : Even , Stop Bits :1
    Flow control : None )
    The EROM Upgrade is 2.1.0 2013-02-25 ( Port : COM3 , Bit Rate : 115200 ,
Parity : Even ,Operate Mode : Upgrade ,
    File : V7V8V8S-ERom Upgrade Tool\OPENBOX_V8S_3511HD.abs,
    [y] Include Bootloader
However after pressing next I never see (Done) after various time gaps to power up
box it always just loops through the load sequence!
    Any ideas

Wrong file/firmware---you are actually trying to upgrade on an erom upgrade tool with another upgade tool.
Go to Downloads then click on downloads---download No81 in list----open the 3511 upgrade tool---then use the downloaded file, tick bootloader, click next and power on box.
    Reaper.

Sorry but my typing must be misleading you or I've got it totally wrong!
Here goes againthe Erom upgrade tool needs a filename the name in the message "OPENBOX_V8_3511HD_CMT_150930032A.abs"
is the same file you have suggested I download again
i.e no difference or am I missing something ?

The supplier of my cable however cannot confirm the spec he just buys cheap and sells on so could
anyone give me a valid spec for the twisted USB cable I require to solve this and I will go to a local electrical dealer
to ensure the cable is not at fault
    many thanks

Yeah was a bit confusing but never mind---go to e-bay and search RS232 null modem cable with prolific usb adapter.
