Nemanja Vidic: Manchester United defender's exit 'mutually agreed'

Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic's departure from the club is a "mutual decision", Old Trafford manager David Moyes has said.

The 32-year-old Serbia defender revealed on Friday that he would leave when his contract expires at the end of the current season.

"This is something we all mutually agreed together," said Moyes.

"I think it was the right decision for club and player. He has been a brilliant servant for United."

And Moyes confirmed Vidic would remain his captain for the rest of the campaign.

"He has been a great player for us and we will continue using him," said the Scot.

Vidic made his United debut in 2006 after a £7m move from Spartak Moscow.

Poor timing to come out, especially with utd doing so well as you mentioned..... Strange one really. Utd need to buy 1/2 a team to be running things next season, Fergie got out at the right time (I'm a QPR fan so looking at it as a neutral)

Players have become stale and need to be shipped out, new players required, young and hungry ones. Then go again next season. Good luck to QPR - Doing well at the moment in the Championship, nervy few week ahead for you fans.
 
Yeah mate, could of done without Charlie Austin getting injured (our main goal scorer) but hopefully we'll get there.... Probably get smashed everyweek though!!!
 
Vidic what a player and servant hes been really sad to see him go.If rooney puts pen to paper will he be the new captain ?
All fans no its not looking good this season but theres a small chance of 4th lets hope moyes gets rid of the dead wood in the summer and brings in some world class players.

You"ll have better odds on IRAN winning the world cup than manure utd finishing 4th lol 11 points now thats 4 games....Reality Nah Its Not Going To Happen :pool:
