VW polo rev problems

Hi I have a 2004 1.4 VW polo classic, the car can start very nice but the problem is that I can't get any revs when I depress the accelerator paddle. sometimes I do get revs but they are not powerful

Hi there, do you get any management lights come up on the dashboard? The problem is likly to be the throttle position sensor. It may need replacing, or removing and giving the unit a good clean could solve the problem. The TPS is the place i would start anyway, ive known them to be these 9 times out of ten. Hope you get it sorted. Sean
