Batman fans can mark 20 July 2012 in their diaries after Warner Bros announced the release date for Batman 3.
According to 'Entertainment Weekly', the still untitled film will be directed by Christopher Nolan.
Few details are available about the planned sequel other than the fact that writer David Goyer will also return.
The release date was announced almost two years after The Dark Knight set box office records.
