What size USB for recordings?

ok thank you....no idea how to do this but i`ve done a little reading....no doubt i`ll be back in the forums if/when i get stuck setting it up and/or using it,
can you recommend what`s generally best to use?
thanks again.

Hi, does an external hard drive need to have a mains power source?
They all seem to be usb powered these days.
Or would it be sufficient to use a large flash drive, this is for recording on a h.2s
Thanks

I use 500Gb Toshiba USB 3.0 Hdd, works fine, never used a mains powered one.

Will record two channels while also watching a previous recording no problem.

No synch problems with playback, never needed timeshift so can't comment.

Sizes mentioned for SD and HD recordings earlier are about right.

Like Bees, I use a toshiba 1tb usb powered hdd and have been using it for 2 years without an issue

I use a uab powered Toshiba 500G HDD,
No issues recording or time shift on a formuler F1
Also, install samba and you can drag and drop files from your PC , both ways, it will show up as a network device.

Any 500gb external hard drive will be perfect to record Samsung, Toshiba, etc will all work perfect on your box once you've initialised the hard drive.
