XMLTV EPG won't auto update

I was under the impression that the XMLTV EPG should upadate when the box was in sleep, yet when I want to set something to record a few days ahead I have to manually update the epg as it just says update needed even though the auto update function is on, any help would be great, thanks.

mines the same... set it to auto update but it hardly ever does... sometimes it will be fine for over a week, other times it needs to be manuallu updated every other ay or so.... it seems to be a common problem...

xmltv itself can have problems that is why people with vu etc use the open tv epg.
