Corrie star Graeme Hawley 'attacked'

'Coronation Street' star Graeme Hawley was attacked in a bar by a soap fan angry at his character’s on-screen affair with a schoolgirl, it was reported today.

Hawley, 36, was accosted in a Manchester pub by a man ranting about his character teacher John Stape’s fling with Street temptress Rosie Webster, played by 19-year-old Helen Flanagan, the Daily Mirror reported.

The man managed to get the actor in a headlock before he was dragged off by other pub-goers and fled.

Hawley said some fans are unable to separate real life from soap story lines, adding: “It’s a constant issue, people giving their opinions on your character. It comes with the job.

“You become a target in bars. I stayed away from pubs during the World Cup. I thought if England lose it would become my fault.”

A spokesman for Greater Manchester police said the force was not made aware of the incident.
