pc running far to slow

Last few days my pc seems to be running far to slow. Have no idea why.
Have done my virus and malware checks and its picked up nothing. IVe also cleaned up my pc and defragd Seems to be certain times of day. like now the last 15 mins - its 3.30 pm here and about 9pm onwards at night. Instead of taking a few seconds to load a page or change a page its taking about about a minute or so. If i have more than a few pages open its even worse.

Any ideas?

Does this only occurr while browsing the net? Does it actually slow down pc functionality, like opening/running other applications not related to surfing the internet?

Are you using Internet Explorer or FireFox? I find Techkings loads much faster with Firefox.

I use IE at work, not by choice; and FF at home. I prefer FF all around.

id agree with 7th, could be a bad day for your internet provider, could be scheduled scans on the comp too, try control alt delete to start task manager to see whats running and what your performance is

Plus when you say you cleaned your pc, what do you mean linny? Did you run ccleaner, or what program do you use.

Try going into your tools on the internet and clearing your cookies every day, that should help.

its when im on the net or retreiveing emails - its about all i do ! yes im on firefox
even to get task manager up its taken longer than it should. If im in my email program i click on an email and it takes time to open so thats not realy on the net is it i use Incredimail - bit like OE
CPU usage us 100% PF usage .98
no scans no applications other than this page lots of processes and it just seems to keep freezing whilst im trying to type ( the timer comes up) on networking its coming up 0.02 or 0%

this has taken almost 5 minutes to type this

run a windows diskcleanup

have cleared cookies etc but not much change can scroll down page faster but still taking time to load so could just be VM

comp could be just blocked up linny, id do a shutdown if you havent already

i actually did that the other nite coz it was so bad but made no difference. I shut down every night. Took about 10 mins to shut down and when it came back it was just as slow so gave up. Only seems over the last few days its doing it and only new prog ive added is skype but thats not open atm got no chats open

I'd run a HiJack This log and send it to d4rkn1ght to look at, especially after your neice having that virus.
